Publié le par mpeschoux.over-blog.com

Sydney is composed of seven inescapable places:

* the city center

* the rocks and circular quay

* kings cross

* China town and darling harbour

* the two main beaches: Mainly and Bondi

The city center is not so big, as you can join without any problem a point or another, walking during a day. But as there is a lot of things to do, it is better for pedestrians to discover a district per day.

The city center

Sydney's city center is full of business people at lunchtime. It is the business place, but also the most condensated place to go shopping. You can have a walk on the huges streets full of mall, such as George street. After works, the inner city goes awaken for the second time of the day: every collegues meet at the bar to have a drink and you can find some places between tourists where everybody is drinking a beer in suit. when you clim on the CBD borders, you can go to a lot of museums or see the colonial buildings. It is possible to rest a little bit in the shadow in Hyde Park, between the Australian white Ibis, very huge birds which are not affraid by human presence. The city center is also well known for its Royal Botanic garden, where you can admire some species of fauna and flora. The city center is a lovely place to have a first approach of Sydney and even if it is a business district, people remain friendly and available.

The Rocks and Circular Quay

The rocks is Sydney's original European settlement. It was a place where sailors, whalers ... went to the pubs. These days, the rocks is touristy but it has conserved its soul and atmosphere. It is an interesting place to hang out for an afternoon, to see the Harbour Bridge.

Circular Quay is Sydney's transport hub, you can take the ferry from here to go to Mainly beach, for instance. Here you can find some of the most estimed restaurants of the city. You have also a lot of museums and gelleries. And finally, you can find the Opera.

Kings cross

Kings cross is the hot district of the town. When the night is falling down, this district reveals its real face. You can go there to go to the pub or to watch for shows.

China town and Darling Harbour

China town is a concentration of restaurants and cheap shops. Here, you can find everything you want, notably when you go to the well known Paddy's Market, where you can buy some food or traditional asian objects or aboriginal art or plate copies of bags or jewellery of renown.

Darling Harbour is a nice place to have a coffee and to admire the architechtural buildings. You can also go there for the Sydney Wildlife zoo, or aquarium.

Mainly and Bondi beach

You can go there taking the ferry and find many surfers. It is possible to have a beautiful ride from circular quay.

Bondi beach is THE sydney beach you have to go. The flavour  of Bondi came from Jewish, Italian and British immigrants. These days, Bondi is hype.
