hierarchy at Nando's

Publié le par mpeschoux.over-blog.com

Nando's, as a franchisee, as a classical division of its staff.

The hierarchy is divided between :

- Store owner (here the store owner is also the store manager)

- Store manager

- senior manager (one in each store)

- staff managers (3 at Nando's Hindley street)

- staff members (10 at Nando's Hindley street)

I began 4months ago as a staff manager. After two months, seeing my true commitment to the store, Aman and Chris (owner/manager) decided to give me the post of staff manager.

*Being a staff member*

As a staff member at Nando's, you have to know all the preparing, servicing and relation to customers tasks.

You start in the kitchen (on the flattop and then on the grill) and the dishes.

Then, after two weeks, they teach you how to use the till. So you have your first experience with customers after this period.

You also have to know how to open and how to close to be a perfect staff member.

During the opening, you have to clean the front store, prepare all the food and everything you need to put the store on.

During the close, you have to clean and tidy everything in one hour. This is a really tough job because the closing time is from 10 to 11pm. If you are really busy, it is impossible to finish at 11. The closing is exhausting and it is the moment when you have to give the most of you.

As a staff member, you don't have to care about any responsability.

*Being a manager*

As a manager, you are responsible for everything in the store, your own actions and those of your staff.

You have to count the till, the money in the safe, checking the temperature of frigdes, food, do the financial parts and the commands. You always have to make sure you have enough food and furthermore, you are the one who need to calm down the conflicts with customers not always clear (Hindley street is well known for being the bad street of Adelaide, a lot of drunk customers enter the store during night shifts).

Of course you also have to do the front (the till) and cooking in the kitchen.

Yesterday was my last shift at Nando's.

I also received a certificate of the Nandocas of the month. In a word, as was the employee of the month. I was really proud of this way to say thank you for your hard work, we appreciate.
